Recently I had the pleasure of spending some time in Ypsilanti, braiding some Michigan grasses for the New Fiber 2016 show at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center. I worked on two different types of ornamental grasses that were part of the landscaping. The second image is the 'before' of one of the locations. The show runs through November, but hopefully the grasses will remain through the winter and collect some snow.
along McHenry Ave, just north of the river...thank you to the Zacks for planting some good braiding grasses and then letting me braid them
Every year about this time the grasses get a little out of control. Order from the chaos is what I'm going for.
That, and line, and form. a frame for the roadrunner at Farmington School..... and a purple and gold 'EHS' completed by students at Vista High....mosaic team including Hudson, Felicia, Desirae, and Isaac.
While browsing google maps a couple days ago, I was delighted to find that the piece I made out at Oakwilde ranch last spring shows up nicely when you zoom in on the site. The lines were made with a shovel and are about 10 inches wide and a few inches deep. They cover about an eighth acre. You can find it yourself if you put these coordinates into google maps: 38.125339,-120.898457
